Get ready to boost donations to Camden foodbanks in the UK’s biggest food collection

Details of the UK’s biggest food collection, the annual Tesco Christmas Collections, are now available. They provide much needed food and funds for local food banks at a critical time of the year. (1)

Tesco, the Trussell Trust and Fare Share will be working together from 29 November 2018 to 1 December 2018 to raise food donations for local food banks across the country. (2,3,4)

Each Trussell Trust foodbank is partnered with a local Tesco store and works with volunteers and Tesco staff handing out shopping lists showing the items foodbanks need most

The process is straightforward. Customers can pick up a list at the front of the store and tick the boxes of the goods they wish to donate. Tesco tops up the customer food donations by making a financial contribution equivalent to 20% of the value of the food.

For Tesco Express stores the collections are on 26 November only with unattended food collection points available for customers to leave their donations.

Since the Food Collection started in 2012 Tesco customers have donated more than 49 million meals.

All food is used locally.

Food collections are not just for Christmas. Some 600 Tesco stores have permanent food collection points so people can donate the whole year round. (1)

Please check the Tesco web site for information about stores in the area.
